Training Schedule & Events

SGD uses a training program based on the ideas of Jeff Galloway. Galloway emphasizes the concept of inserting walking breaks into time running to allow for the body to recover from the stress of running, and to ensure runners can safely reach the finish line. Our program recognizes that many of our runners may not have much experience in long distance running, and uses longer walking breaks at the start. SGD is a running program, and over time the amount of walking will decrease as we build endurance.

Each participating SGD running group is responsible for developing its own training schedule based on the Galloway model. Below is a template of what such a schedule might look like along with a list of potential running events.
